tim lincecum

From The Bleachers 10.6.11

As the end of the week approaches, a pair of OWS contributors banter about some of the important (and not so important) news items of the week.

…if an NHL season starts, and no one gives a fuck…

I tried to do a little preparation for this week’s post. Apparently ESPN has a whole section on their website for cold hockey! AND the NHL has a player named Boogaard. It’s unclear if he’s related to Bastion Boogaard, but this league sounds just delightful. I may make an attempt to understand white people’s obsession with hockey this year.
We can only hope that ESPN doesn’t go after the rights to the NHL. If you haven’t noticed; they tend to shove the brands they broadcast down the viewers throats. That’s OK when it’s the NFL, Red Sox/Yankees, SEC football, etc. If ESPN starts being more Nascar and NHL, I’ll have my concerns for sure. However, those white people you speak of would be in redneck heaven.

Gigantes Extend Lincecum

Dat Franchize Boy

The San Francisco Giants extended 2-Time NL Cy Young Winner with a 2 year, $23 million contract today rather than going to arbitration.

This, along with the Seattle extending Felix Hernandez, is great news for baseball fans. Look, I think we’re all tired of seeing a young phenom prospect and commenting, “Wow, he’s gonna look good on the Red Sox or the Yankees in a couple of years.” It makes for a much for compelling season when these mid-market teams like San Francisco and Seattle invest in making a push for their divisions, a goal that’s very attainable for both; the Giants are fielding a young team with a lot of potential while the Mariners are looking to steal back the AL West with the Angels reeling with a great 1-2 punch at the top of their rotation.

Tim Lincecum Pulled Over With Pot In Car

tim-lincecumI don’t know how it took so long but it finally came out. On October 30th at around 8 AM former Cy Young award winning pitcher Tim Lincecum was pulled over in his 2006 Benz for going 74 in a 60 just north of the Oregon border. Upon inspection of the car officers found 3.3 grams of marijuana.

Shocking. The 25-year old in this photo smokes a little pot?! No way.

I want to know why police decided to search Lincecum’s car. Either Tim was ripped out of his mind, the car reeked or Tim and company were stupid enough to have “evidence” in plain view. No Oregon cop is going to have Tim Lincecum step out of his car for doing 14 over the speed limit, unless there was something else sketchy going on. (more…)
