Cardinals Trade Julio Lugo To Orioles

I thought it had to be an April fools prank — a Major League team trading for Mr. Lugo? It turns out this looks like it is actually legit.

Last night rumors circulated around the web that Julio Lugo was being traded to “an unnamed American League East team”.

As reported by the Baltimore Sun, MLB.com, WBAL, St. Louis Dispatch, The Sporting News, Roto World and more; Julio Lugo is now a member of the Baltimore Orioles.

I guess Lugo becomes a more attractive player when the Red Sox pay the vast majority of his $9M contract.

Orioles Brad Bergesen Hurt During Commercial Shoot

Bergesen hurt his shoulder while filming this promotional commercial back in December. Now the team has had to institute a new policy regarding team commercial shoots. Andy MacPhail, the Orioles president of baseball operations says, “We will make sure we have one of our medical personnel or baseball operations personnel present from now moving forward.” (more…)

AL East, Balance Of Power Restored

AL East standingsThe AL east is finally back to normal—for now at least.

Yesterday, the Rays gave up a 10 run lead to the lowly Indians. A-rod went 5-5 at the plate. The Jays lost their 7th straight game.

After all of this the Red Sox and Yankees are one and two in the standings with the falling Blue Jays just a half game behind New York. (more…)
