This could very well end up being far and away the best division in football. At the same time, that means that the over/under numbers set by Vegas are big. It is so very unlikely for each of the 4 teams to win 8+ games in 2010. This means there is a good bet hidden somewhere in this division — now we just have to find it.

New York Giants

Like I said, not every team can win 9 games. After looking over the Giants schedule it is pretty favorable. That is what made me waver, but I stuck with a big ‘U’ — under 9 wins.

Philadelphia Eagles

I can’t bet on a rookie QB (essentially) to get to 9 wins. Although Kolb looks good — there has to be some growing pains here with McNabb leaving town.

Washington Redskins

That brings us to Donovan’s new home — Washington.

Dallas Cowboys

I’m not buying the ‘Boys for the Super Bowl like some people. However, I like them to get to double digits with all that talent.

**********

That is it. I have walked through each team’s over/under as set by Vegas. As I alluded to last time, I want to run down some other NFL preseason bets after the long weekend. Opening day is really sneaking up on us.

I found this post from Bodden’s twitter to be entertaining. Leigh had shoulder surgery earlier today. His twitter account has been getting a workout.

Bodden was a cast of from the Lions who was suppose to fill a starting spot for the Patriots this year. I’m not sure when this injury happened, but it explains a lot. He was not looking good when he played this summer. I can’t even image what that sad fact means for the Patriots already questionable defense.

The Dolphins are looking more and more like a team to watch coming out of the AFC East.

That said, I am not trying to kick a guy when he is down. He seems like a good guy who enjoys interacting with the fans. I do wish him a quick and full recovery.

Lets see — is there anything interesting going on with NFC North teams? Any big name quarterbacks? Any drama? I know who might come to mind.

But, you’re welcome. I will write this entire betting preview without using the F-word. However, the image above is of course a total reference to a little story from a month ago.

Here is now I am looking at this division…

The Bears – Lions Debacle

One of these suckers really almost have to hit the over. As you can see I, believe it or not, have the Lions doing it. I feel like every year is the year Cutler is going to return to form. Mike Martz is really going to have to pull some magic QB dust out of his ass to turn Cutler around.

On the other hand, Matt Stafford is getting better. Although it’s only preseason, he has shown improvement. This feels like more than a 4 win team. Since Vegas is giving us 5 as a push, I like the Lions over.

The Packers – Vikings choice

I have the Packers winning this division. Thus, I think the Pack are a lock to hit a double-digit win total. On the other hand, the Vikings are already falling apart at the seems with these injuries. We have already heard about potential locker room issues in Minnesota — and that was when the team was winning. How bad will these issues be when the Vikings start 0-2?

**********

The NFC East will finish my journey through these over/unders. After that I plan on summing up some of my favorite potential wagers of the preseason.

Be sure to check out all the the team win over/unders here and follow O_W_S for more NFL preseason shenanigans.

Our latest division preview takes us to the land of the defense, and the Cleveland Browns. Last year the AFC North saw two playoff teams, surprisingly neither one being Pittsburgh, with Cincinnati winning the division and Baltimore winning the Wild Card. This division looks to be competitive again with some really good defenses and two big time Wideouts joining forces with Cincinnati and Baltimore respectively. The division also will see a Hall of Fame-to-be coach run a front office as well as a star quarterback sit out the first 4 games of the season (at least). We will give you some insight on each team as to where they stand, give you a make or break player, as well as their fantasy standout. The make or break player is a player that will have the greatest impact on the team’s success (minus the quarterback, because that is too easy). We will also give you a prediction of where each team will be in the standings at the end of the season.

Baltimore Ravens – Following a playoff berth and first round win over New England, the Ravens look to come back stronger. They added Pro-Bowl receiver Anquan Boldin to an already improving offense. Ray Rice is coming off a career year and will look to improve on that. The pieces are really coming together on the offensive side for Baltimore as Joe Flacco looks to make an even bigger stride coming into his third season. I dont think I need to speak about the defense too much, the only worry here is age. Ray Lewis is getting up there and Ed Reed has been battling injuries for the last few seasons. Overall they are a really solid team and should make the playoffs again. Baltimore’s make or break is Anquan Boldin. The Raven haven’t had a true go-to receiver for Flacco and Bolding seems to be it. If he can help solidify the outside, it will open things up for Rice and Todd Heap to be even more explosive. Most fantasy boards have Ray Rice as #4 or #5 overall, so he is obviously their fantasy stud. Look for him to score more TD’s this year also.

Cincinnati Bengals – Man I wish this team could be on Hardknocks again. Ochocinco, TO, Pac Man Jones, Tank Johnson, Cedric Benson, child please. On the field, they should be able to put up some points and stop people like their defense did last year. However, I am just not sold on Carson Palmer. He showed us nothing last year and so far in the preseason he hasn’t shown too much. I know you cant rely on preseason action too much, but I just did. For his sake, he will need to be sharp because this team could turn into a soap opera really soon, #batmanandrobbin. Watch out for Jermaine Gresham, the rookie tight end. I think he has the tools to be a very good player in this league. For make or break player, that goes to Cedric Benson. He was the offense last year and will still look to set the tone for the offense this season. Ironically he gets the notion of Bengals’ fantasy stud. There are not too many feature backs in the nfl (most teams use a 2 back set) and Benson is as close as you get.

Cleveland Browns – The Browns are slowly turning the page on this franchise. In comes Mike Holmgren as the new President of the Team. Out is QBs Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn, with Jake Delhomme replacing him. In a semi-surprising move, Eric Mangini stays as the head coach, where he has done next to nothing. The Browns do not have too much going for them, but they do have a few pieces to keep their fans excited about the future. Jerome Harrison finished the season strong, Joshua Cribbs is an electric player, Joe Haden looks to be a part of an improving secondary (with the addition of Sheldon Brown from Philadelphia), and Colt McCoy was a highly touted QB from The University of Texas. For the present Cleveland Browns, Jake Delhomme will need to keep this team respectable, something he wasn”t able to do with a stellar running game in Carolina. This is likely Jake’s last chance as a starting quarterback, so I do expect him to make the most of it. In the end, I don’t see any other scenerio than that of giving the rook a chance towards the end of the season. Since I can’t choose Delhomme as Cleveland’s make or break player, I will have to go with Harrison. He will need to carry the ball effectively if the Browns offense wants to survive. As for their fantasy stand out, I will give that to Cribbs. The Browns find interesting ways to get Cribbs the ball and he can break one at any time.

Pittsburgh Steelers – Santonio Holmes, gone. Big Ben suspended for the first four games, at least. Some issues on the offensive line, but there are still believers for Pittsburgh. Sorry, I will not be one of them. I see them in the same category as last year, around a .500 team. The defense is still good but Byron Leftwich out of the gate is not. I was hoping that Dennis Dixon would hopefully win that battle, but he most likely did not after last week’s preseason game vs Denver. This team is in a tough spot right now but should be able to decently stat afloat and produce a team that will be in each game it plays. The make or break player in Pittsburgh is Troy Polamalu. When he plays the Steelers move, end of story. You won’t find too many safeties on this list, but he can do everything so well from his position it allows Dick LeBeau to do whatever he wants. He needs to stay healthy for Pittsburgh to have any shot. Their fantasy stud is definitely Rashard Mendenhall. After fumbling everything under the sun his rookie year, he came back strong to run for 1,100 yards last season. Look for him to get a lot of touches with Big Ben out of the lineup.

Predictions and Final Thoughts

Standings:

1. Baltimore

2. Cincinnati

3. Pittsburgh

4. Cleveland

This is a tough division and should come down to the end of the season.

AFC South is up next…

Things never stay quite for too long — another sex tape. Well, it isn’t so much a sex tape. That is, at least not by the Bill Clinton definition.

Lets talk takeaways from this incident.

First, both participants… how do I want to say this… physically, they have nothing to be ashamed of. The general consensus is that this girl is smoking. My first question; how long until we know her name?

Callie Rivers, daughter of Celtics coach Doc Rivers

Second, beyond these direct participants I think about who else this effects. Of course we have the Patriots, and I am certain they aren’t happy. How about Tim Tebow though? I am wondering just how close these two were at Florida. I’m thinking Timmy would not approve of such lewd acts.

Brandon Spikes has been dating Callie Rivers, the daughter of Celtics head coach Doc Rivers. I feel for the Rivers family who must be a bit put off today. Even though this was likely filmed before Spikes started to date Callie, it’s not going to be easy for her and Brandon to bring this news to Doc.

Apparently there is also a second video that is yet to be released. I would assume it gets “better” or more “racy”. However, I have also heard that is is just Spikes pleasuring himself with some girl there. …I don’t know. This whole thing is weird. These situations are always odd.

I want to know who recorded this. I also want to know who the girl is and what her deal is. So many questions but so few answers to this point.

I just know that I love that real journalists have to write about this.

If you haven’t browsed the video (LIAR!) — the link is below.
