Patriots Squeak Out A Win
Ok, let’s start with the Patriots and Jets game. We’ve been talking for weeks how the Jets are not a good football team, that they are a team that is barely hanging on and offensively, just aren’t very good. While I haven’t been saying it (mainly because I don’t agree) many out there are saying that the Patriots are the best team in the AFC.
Well your future AFC Super Bowl representative (at least that’s what it feels like the entire world thinks) just barely squeaked by the awful Jets. Let’s be honest here, the Patriots aren’t even close to being as good as people are trying to make them out to be and the Jets are figuring out how to approach a season while dealing with significant injuries. The Patriots aren’t running away with the AFC or the AFC East and the Jets, despite the loss are very much in the AFC race.
There was a lot of second guessing towards the Jets after this game. There was a spot in there that I felt was a perfect moment to bring in Tebow but they didn’t and ended up settling for 3 points. The Jets defense seemed to confuse the Patriots all afternoon but in the end, the Jets switched things up and Brady marched his team downfield at the end of the game and the beginning of OT.
Point is, I’m not sold on the Patriots being a great team and I am starting to buy back into the Jets maybe making something out of this season. Super Bowl? No… but maybe they can sneak into the playoff picture.
How Good is RGIII
You know what I am sold on, that RGIII will be the real deal. The question will be can he survive years and years of playing like he does in this league? Will his body hold up? He’s been compared to Vick a lot but he’s much bigger than Vick and he can read a defense, something Vick has never been able to do so I don’t think he’s like Vick at all.
I know the Redskins lost the game but Washington really outplayed the Giants for the majority of the game. Besides that final drive by the Giants, the Redskins secondary did an excellent job. Seriously though, how do you let Cruz run a straight route like that without smashing him in the mouth as he goes by? The Redskins had a shot to win it but the fumbles that usually go Washington’s way, didn’t this time. Did you know, going into Sunday’s game, Washington had recovered 13 of 16 fumbles this season? A late fumble in this game sealed the game for the New York Giants. If Washington wants to be successful in this league or even in this division, they have to stop putting the ball on the ground. Prior to Sunday, fumbles meant nothing to the Redskins but now, they translated into an “L.”
Detroit or New Orleans?
So two teams that are sitting at 2-4 that I didn’t expect to be sitting at 2-4 this season would be the Detroit Lions and the New Orleans Saints. So which team would I rather be? I’ll have to pick the New Orleans Saints. The Saints aren’t 2-4 because of problems at the Quarterback position. Drew Brees is the man and completed 27 of 37 passes for 377 yards and four touchdowns in the Saints’ 35-28 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I am starting to wonder about Matthew Stafford though. Last season he seemed like he could do no wrong but so far this season he’s doing a lot of wrong. His passing is off and he doesn’t look comfortable. He had a couple of chances to get drives going on Monday night but he just couldn’t hit his receivers. Sadly, it looks like we are back to the NFC North Basement Dwelling Detroit Lions.
