Every season RDM obsesses on the NFL team win total over/unders. It’s one of the more fun bets in all of sports. A single well-placed bet turns an otherwise random team into a must see weekly event. Today we look at the 2012 San Diego Chargers.
The number: 9
Last year, the Chargers defense regressed quite a bit. The defense ended up ranked 22nd in points allowed. It seems like San Diego will need an arena-ball-like offense to compete in 2012. The thing is — that’s entirely possible in today’s NFL.
The wide receiving core is likely to be enough for Phillip Rivers. However, the running back situation is already dicey. Ryan Mathews is hurt. Shocking. That means it could be Ronnie Brown getting the bulk of the carries. Who know what that means, in regards to productivity.
If we expect the defense to remain middle of the pack at best, then the Chargers could struggle a bit. The defense is a bit of a wild card. However, it’s the AFC West that is the true crap shoot.
But the division was a joke last year. The Chargers still managed to lose 6 games in a row from late October through November. If you are soft, you are soft. And that’s San Diego.
