I previously mentioned Drake’s spat with Chris Brown. Also in the very same VIP area that night was Spurs point guard Tony Parker.
Parker was literally caught in the middle of the physical altercation. Originally Parker told the media that no serious damage was done, and that he’d be sidelined just a week. That story has changed 20 million percent. Parker has filled a $20 million suit against the club’s management.
The suit was filed in State Supreme Court in Manhattan on Thursday. It says the W.i.P club in SoHo and its operators were negligent in security and supervision, which allowed the fight to take place.
Chris Brown, his girlfriend and his bodyguard were among eight injured during the fight inside the club last week. Police say members of Drake’s entourage stopped Brown as he was leaving. The fight escalated and bottles were thrown.

It would be far less cool (and far more difficult) — but suing the entourages of Chris Brown and Drake would be the thing to do here. Those are the parties that should pay anyone injured on that night, if anyone should pay at all.
On the other hand, in this instance, Tony Parker shouldn’t be getting money from this incident unless he can no longer work (i.e. play in the NBA). That is unclear at this point. But, now that this litigation is in play, he says that his Olympics are in doubt.
If Parker can play — and still wants to carry out this suit to prove an important point on safety — then by all means. 
More power to him. That doesn’t appear to be the case, though. Parker is a bit misguided on the true liable parties.
Suing the club for the tantrum two rapper’s entourages threw is ridiculous. Especially when you are rich as all hell.
It’s like suing your waiter for the shitty food you ordered. It’s like suing the city of New York because you were mugged in Central Park. It’s like suing your college professor because you can’t find work. It’s like suing your parents because you grew up to be a shitbag.
It’s asinine, in short.
Lastly, if Parker is to get a payout, he should donate any proceeds to charity. Yes, even if he can’t hoop any more. Must I remind you that Parker is in the middle of a a four-year, $50 million deal.
If Tony wants to shake someone down for every last penny — just do it to the guilty parties, man.
