Even If You Bet Against The Patriots, You Might Be Betting On Robert Kraft

Unlike this extremely fake, canned photo above — some people made some real money this week. One of them is Robert Kraft.

Caesars began trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market yesterday. Prior to the initial public offering, the company had to disclose shareholders in a regulatory filing. One of those share holders if Robert Kraft. Robert Kraft’s company owned about 85,000 pre-IPO shares in the firm.

Yesterday the stock was sold to some lucky investor’s at $9 a share. After the opening bell, the stock shot up 71% to close at $15.39.

To add some color; 85,000 shares times $15.39 comes to $1.3 million and change.

Kraft has ambitions to build a resort-style casino across from Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

I’m not a Foxboro resident. And, thus, I don’t really have a strong opinion on Kraft’s casino desires. However, I do think Foxboro is as good a location as any.

Some people disagree.

Kraft should step away from casino plans

I am outraged at Robert Kraft, the obnoxious owner of the New England Patriots, for teaming up with his equally obnoxious counterpart in greed, Steve Wynn, the Las Vegas casino mogul, to build a $16 billion casino in Foxboro where Kraft’s Kingdom is — Gillette Stadium and Patriot Place.

Robert Kraft is a billionaire and so is his pal Steve Wynn. Kraft does not need to make another billion dollars, nor Wynn for that matter.

Kraft should simply step aside and give the desperately needed casino to economically depressed and exhausted old New England mill towns like New Bedford, Fall River, Lowell, Lawrence, Springfield, and of course Worcester, where getting a casino would be just like winning the lottery — if you get the pun.

Kraft does not need to make more billions. On the contrary, he should simply step aside and let somebody else “get a piece of the action” for a change.

Scott Wolfe

Worcester

That is from SouthCoastToday.com. Whatever, that is. But, my point is, Scott Wolfe is a bit off. Some of these other locations could not handle the influx of visitors a casino would bring. Also, beyond location, there is no one better to be at the helm of such a massive project than someone who actually runs successful local businesses. That’d be Mr. Kraft. If you want success, Kraft is a good man to look to.

Of course, I’m getting some of this information for the Boston Herald. So take it for what it’s worth. Their hot story right now is about another Boston-based sports blog.

Be careful what you wish for, New Englander. If we aren’t careful, someone like the honorable Mayor Menino will have even more of his influence all over a casino project in a nanosecond. Is that what you want?
