It’s the first Monday morning hangover of the season. That means the first Sunday of the NFL season is behind us. Sitting inside on a beautiful 70-something degree day has never felt so rewarding.

Until the Cowboys shat the bed, I had another image in mind.
I know Vegas-types were all over the Bills this week. This Cheifs fan doesn’t appreciate it. What was supposed to be a Buffalo performance at would cover a moderate spread and give the Chiefs a game in KC, turned out to be a routing.
It’s in someway ironic how whimsical the first Sunday of the NFL season makes sports fans feel, yet this year that Sunday fell on the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Yesterday, the NFL and its broadcast partners did about a classy a job as could have been done. I posted both Fox’s tribute and NBC’s tribute.
Hopefully yesterday’s games did exactly what it should have for America. That is, take the minds of a weary nation off the troubles of the past decade. Sport is the ultimate relief. Sport transcends all boundaries. It’s worth the hangover.
