Two Boston Globe Football Writers Pick Lions To Play In Super Bowl XLVI

Boston’s largest paper unleashed their 2011 NFL prediction on the world this morning. To no ones surprise, all five writers have the New England Patriots winning the AFC East. Homers, right?

Well, maybe not. Only one writers has the Patriots wining the Super Bowl. Two have the Patriots losing the Super Bowl. Insanely, that is the same number of Globe writers that have the Lions losing in Super Bowl XLVI.

Take a peak:

AFC East Patriots Patriots Patriots Patriots Patriots Patriots
AFC North Ravens Steelers Steelers Steelers Ravens Ravens
AFC South Colts Texans Texans Texans Texans Titans
AFC West Chargers Chargers Chargers Chargers Chargers Chargers
AFC wild cards Jets, Steelers Ravens, Jets Ravens, Jets Ravens, Jets Jets, Steelers Jets, Steelers
NFC East Giants Eagles Eagles Cowboys Eagles Giants
NFC North Packers Packers Packers Packers Lions Packers
NFC South Saints Saints Saints Falcons Falcons Falcons
NFC West Seahawks Cardinals Rams Rams Cardinals Cardinals
NFC wild cards Eagles, Lions Falcons, Lions Falcons, Lions Eagles, Saints Packers, Cowboys Bears, Cowboys
Super Bowl Jets over Lions Saints over Patriots Packers over Patriots Cowboys over Jets Ravens over Lions Patriots over Giants

There you have it. Lions continue to be the hot team, as far as picks go. This is an extreme example though.

Here are what some other prominent writers have decided to predict.

Peter King has the Falcons over Chargers. Florio has Saints over Chargers. Football Outsiders stats points to the Steelers over Eagles. Schefter went with Patriots over Cowboys.
