2010 Bowl Participant Gifts

Here are some of the better gifts that this years bowl participants will receive.

As you can see, the BCS National Championship participants are getting snubbed in comparison to some of the other bowl teams. They don’t get a $420 shopping spree. They aren’t even getting an XBOX, nor an iPod and headphones. The funny thing is — what college kid doesn’t have these tings?

The real tragedy is the lack of high-end electronics for the BCS National Championship game. What is Cecil Newton going to do with a lowly Ogio backpack?!

Some bowls would not disclose what their participants would be receiving. I find that to be funny — it likely isn’t because of how rinky-dink those gifts are, but rather how lavish.

This comes at a time when “pay for play” and the argument over whether or not collegiate athletes should be paid is a hot topic.

On the other side, my favorite bad gift goes to those in the Hyundai Sun Bowl — a Helen of Troy hair dryer. Another oddity is the $25 gift card to the Outback that the Outback Bowl participants will be getting. I hope the 300 pound linemen are eating light that night — a $25 at the Outback isn’t going to get you too far.
