Grade Inflation By Collegiate Athletic Conference

This is the average GPA from 1990 to 2008 from GradeInflation.com. I believe the idea behind grade inflation is that over the past couple decades student GPA’s have been on an overwhelmingly upward trend.

We have all heard the notion that Ivy League schools are no harder, or even easier, than other institutions … you just have to get in there first. Thus, it is not surprising that the Ivy League has the highest GPAs and the highest GPA inflation.

The GradeInflation website is based off this op-ed piece by Stuart Rojstaczer. Rojstaczer is a retired Duke professor. This is information that you may or may not find interesting. It is however definitely an important subject, and something that I have personally pondered.

I have done research regarding graduate schools and have found some very interesting results regarding the caliber of student many of the BCS conference schools are getting. That is to say; you might be surprised by the GPA’s or test scores that you will find at these schools. Additionally, you might be surprised how many of the top academic institutions are also top-tier athletic powerhouses.

I have always said that winning in the major collegiate sports really can draw in top-level professors and students.
