The opening odds for next years Super Bowl went live shortly after the final whistle blew for Super Bowl XLIV.
The favorites are predictably the Indianapolis Colts. The odds are currently at 13/2.
Seven teams are tied with the longest odds currently at 100/1. Those team are the Browns, Lions, Chiefs, Raiders, Rams, Bills and Buccaneers. ProFootballTalk has wrongly reported only 6 teams at 100/1 — missing the Buffalo Bills. Understandable though. The Bills are quite forgettable.
The team with the second highest odds to win is the San Diego Superchargers. That just seems like you are throwing your money away at this point.
The next two teams on the list are interesting. The struggling Steelers and poignant Patriots come in next at 11/1 and 10/1 respectively. Joining the Patriots at 10/1 are the Super Bowl XLIV champ Saints.
The Vikings, Packers and Cowboys are next at 12/1. If there is an uncapped year, a team that has Jerry Jones at the helm can’t be counted out.
There is a tie for the second biggest long shot — after those 7 bottom feeders. The Redskins, Broncos and Jaguars all come in at 50/1.
I think of those 10 teams that have 50/1 or 100/1 odds, the Broncos have to be the best team. I don’t think there is even a contest. For teams in that unfortunate grouping, Denver is the one that sticks out. If they can somehow get back to early 2009 form someone could get a payday.
