Welcome to Super Bowl XLIV! With Carrie Underwood!

Carrie Underwood welcomes you to Super Weekend!

Super Bowl Sunday is just two days away. We already have our order in for wings from Wings Over. It is a staple at the UMass campus and a number of other colleges around the country. If there is a location near you, I would suggest you give them a call ASAP.

Last year my big prop bet for the Super Bowl was James Harrison to win Super Bowl MVP. If you recall this was likely going to happen if someone else had made a less spectacular catch than Santonio Holmes did to win the game.

We already looked over the best in player, team and other prop bets for the big game. I am eyeing some to see where I want to wager to make this game a little more intense. I don’t want to do it, but I think I have to make a wager just for shits.

Of course, the best bets are the ones you make amongst your friends. The “I bet they get a first down on this drive” bet turns into “I bet I can eat 5 hot wings in under 2 minutes”. It’s fun for all. Aren’t these bets what the Super Bowl is all about when your team is golfing?

Of course more of Carrie Underwood after the super jump…

Lane Kiffin Could Field The Best Pop-warner Team In The Nation

This week Kiffin offered a USC scholarship for the class of 2015 to a seventh grade. David Sills is 13 years old and is the newest USC recruit.

This is not the first time Kiffin has robbed the cradle for young talent. Last year, he offered a scholarship to 13-year-old Evan Berry, the younger brother of Tennessee safety, and likely top-10 2010 NFL pick, Eric Berry.

Return Of The Clydesdales
The Sports Business Journal has a rundown of all the Super Bowl ads and in which quarter they will be shown.

Generally the 1st quarter is thought to be the safest bet. Not only are people glued to the TV at the beginning of the game but they are looking forward to the first Super Bowl ads. In addition, having your ad early helps guard against a blowout which could decrease viewership in the later quarters.

In other Super Bowl commercial news, I heard that Budweiser will be bringing back a take on their class “Clydesdale” campaign.

McDonalds #1 Fan

I’ll take a number 85 with fries.

Apparently McDonalds has been down in Miami for the big game all week. Today they gave free McDonald’s Mac Snack Wraps to first 100 fans who stopped by to see Ochocinco.

This picture found it’s way into our inbox today.

The marketing rep stated that Ocho is “McDonalds #1 fan”. I think it might be true — Ocho is indeed Micky D’s biggest fan. He definitely believes in the product. It’s done him just fine I guess. Makes a perfect late night snack for after Ocho’s Mansion Party.

I want to thank Jon Anik from ESPN for taking the time to talk with us this week. Everyone have a safe and happy Super Bowl weekend!

Programming note: expect a little UFC 109 analysis to hit the site tomorrow at some point.
