NFL Week 12 Betting Preview

It’s Thanksgiving weekend and that means extra Thursday games to go with your turkey and cranberry sauce. It’s time to take a look at the lines for the Turkeyday games as well as the rest of NFL Week 12 (the run-down includes a Titanic-era Leo reference). Go on…

Thursday

detroit.lions.thanksgiving12:30 – Green Bay @ Detroit +9

If it’s Thanksgiving it must mean a football loss game in Detroit. The Lions are getting a pretty staggering 9 points at home against a 6-4 team. That is a big number for a home team to be spotted.

4:15 – Oakland @ Dallas -14

Not only do we get the Lions on Turkeyday but we get the Raiders too!? Thank you NFL. Why would the NFL schedule this game after the Raiders 2008 season?

Oakland has had a couple of nice performances this season, but I know no one that believes they are anywhere near competitive still.

8:20 – NY Giants @ Denver +7

The game of the day only exists on the NFL Network which could be a problem for some. The game of the day also features two teams sinking faster than Jack Dawson after the Titanic’s demise. This is one of those games in which if I put money on one of these teams the other is sure to win. I know a ton of people have been hosed by the Giants this year and the Broncos have led people to a similar fate this season. Stay away! Sinking ships!

Sunday

1:00 – Indianapolis @ Houston +3.5

I understand that the Texans always play the Colts close but the Texans always find a way to flub-it-up. The best team in football by 4? It’s hard not to love that.

jags-fans-santa-grinch1:00 – Miami @ Buffalo +3.5

Same thing as Indy @ Houston, Miami is much better than the Bills. Even on the road I like them to win handily.

4:05 – Jacksonville @ San Francisco -3.5

Our third 3.5 point game. This one is a bit different as the home team is actually favored. This could actually be a good battle. I do like the road team getting the points here. The Jags have been on the upswing while the 49ers still can get nothing going.

4:15 – Chicago @ Minnesota -11

I am shocked at how bad the Bears are. I should probably be more specific; I am shocked at how awful Jay Cutler is. I ravens-fansalways knew he was garbage and simply a creation of media-hype surrounding the NFL draft, but this is a whole other level beyond bad. If this thing somehow moves down to 10 then lock it up. Even at 11 I can’t but any faith in Cutler to keep it close.

8:20 – Pittsburgh @ Baltimore pk

This game has come off most books. If you were lucky enough to be eying it all week you could get your team at a pick ‘em. I suspect as more information about Big Ben comes out tomorrow and the rest of the weekend we will see a new line develop.

Monday

8:35 – New England @ New Orleans -3

It would be the Super Bowl in November if not for the Patriots blunder in Indy. This is still a great game–a playoff atmosphere if ever there was one in November.

The more intersting number is the over/under of 56.5. If you don’t often look at over/unders that is a big number. This game is expected to be a shootout. I what to be a contrarian and say that it will definitely go under but I can’t honestly say that.
