Just when you thought there was nothing NFL-related to talk about in Buffalo or Tennessee. I wrote a month ago that owner Ralph Wilson might be looking into a change at the position of Head Coach.
It looks like the tipping point came soon after Titans owner Bud Adams flipped Ralph Wilson the bird during their 41-17 destruction of the Bills. Today, Dick Jauron was fired by Wilson as the Bills are off to a 3-6 start.
There is no big surprise here as this was widely speculated a month ago. It’s just great to see an 86 year old man flip off a 91 year old man. It’s also coo to watch as the 91 year old man, apparently sick of losing, reacts by firing his head coach.
Bud Adams was fined a quarter of a million dollars today or the equivalent of $125,000 per bird. This is the third largest fine that the NFL has ever doled out. The first being a $1 million fine to former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo in 1999 and the second being the Bill Belichick $500,000 fine.
Adams seems like a true cowboy. He made his money in the petroleum business and apparently has been an owner for longer than Ralph Wilson.
Alright, maybe you don’t want to see your favorite teams owner doing the Bud Adams dance but I love an owener who cares!
