Currently, in the Domincan Republic there is a great deal of racism that occurs between “dark skinned” Dominicans and “light skinned” Dominicans. This explains why Sammy suggests that “he is not a racist” when he spoke to the media following his public appearance. Still, this news has peeved a number in the Dominican community.
Here is Charles from last nights NBA on TNT telecast. As you can see, he is being turned into a white man. Barkley was unsure of how to “be white” and asked if he could “eat chicken” as a white man.
We can always to turn to Charles to make light of situation that has many people very upset. On that note, many people might not realize it yet but some Dominicans are mad at Sammy for lightening his skin. It is a sensative subject. Seems like this story has deeper meaning than most of us originally realized.
Mr. Barkley, Im glad you put Sammy Sosa on blast, but (for a black man) what is the difference between wanting to be white and marrying a white woman. Nothing, I think.
