It’s true, it’s true. At least for the moment the AFC West is an interest place.
The Broncos, who were on their high horse getting to a 6-0 start, are now a single-game ahead of the Chargers in the AFC West. You might not be able to tell from the photo to the left but that is an actual picture of Hines Ward at Invesco Field in Denver. The place had a Steeler infestation last night. The Broncos have had bigger issues than the influx of Steel workers to Denver this past weekend.
The Broncos have played 4 good teams this season–the last four games with a BYE week mixed in. They beat the Patriots and Chargers before losing to the Ravens and Steelers. The victories against New England and San Diego were relatively closely contested while the losses the last two weeks were not.
I previously mentioned in one of the weekly betting preview posts that the Broncos would have a hard stretch here only to likely right the ship with a remaining schedule that can only be described as a joke. They only have 2 or 3 hard games left. They must go to Indy and to Philly and also have an important division game at Invesco against the Chargers. That’s it. The Broncos will get 11 wins in their sleep this season.
Thus even with a loss to San Diego at home, it is hard to envision the Broncos not wrapping up the AFC West handily. The Chargers can’t keep pace in my opinion.
Against the better teams of the NFL, a defense can only play so well until Kyle Orton is exposed as being Kyle Orton.

You mean till he is exposed as the Quarterback with the highest home winning percentage in NFL history? I think that has already been exposed…
No but seriously, I was throwing rocks at the Orton Bandwagon preseason, jumped on full speed after the first 3 games, and now I have one foot in, one foot out.
