Florida Linebacker Brandon Spikes Asks For Full-Game Suspension

brandon-spikesThe first response that should occur after reading a headline like that is some immediate questioning of whether this could possibly be true.

I actually think it is.

If so, this makes Urban Meyer, the University of Florida and the SEC look bad. Really bad in my opinion. For a 22-year old to call out those three prominent entities and question their decision making is a huge statement.

I know a lot of people have or had Spikes as the top linebacker in the upcoming draft class. Honestly, for me, this now repairs any character questions that this awful incident created.

Spikes said that this incident was weighing heavily on him. He went on to say, “I really don’t want to be a distraction to the team. I want the guys to prepare without any negative things going on, and I feel like if I would play, it would be a big thing going on. I’m just trying to stay out of the way and just motivate the guys.”

Spikes went from looking like a barbarian to a level-headed thinking man in a span of about 72-hours. I’m back on the Spikes bandwagon.

Man, for Florida and Urban Meyer’s sake I hope this is a BRILLIANT ploy on their part to throw themselves under the bus in oder to repair this kids image. Because, regardless, they look like the asses here.
