Usually the NFL trading deadline comes and goes with little to nothing of any substance happening. The timing, being just after week 6, doesn’t make trading any easier. Usually, there are only a few teams who are truly out of the running. A 3-3 team still has hope and even a 2-4 can make a run.
This year there seems to be more talk than any year in recent memory. This could be because there are so many more awful teams than in years past.
For the Rams, Bucs, Lions, Chiefs, Titans, Browns and Raiders it is hard to argue that this season is not over. The Redskins, Panthers and Seahawks are holding on for their respective lives.
Could this be the year a “blockbuster” actually occurs? We already had a gigantic trade between the Browns and Jets. Could another be in the works?
History would say no. We will have the breaking news as the 4:00 PM deadline approaches.

Although this probably won’t amount to much, the Patriots seem to be clearing cap and roster space…they’ve cut 4 players in the last 24 hours. Interesting.
