The trade deadline has come and gone. The biggest deal of the day was Boston’s acquisition of Victor Martinez from Cleveland. Cleveland effectively completes their fire sale but The bigger news is that Roy Halladay is still north of the border as no one could get a deal done with Jays GM JP Ricciardi.
For those who think that the Red Sox have a log-jam at 3B, 1B, DH and even C; that likely won’t be the case. You have two guys in Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek that you would like to rest down the stretch. These types of these always seem to have a way of working themselves out.
UFC: Fistful of Dollars; I Feel Swindled

On Wednesday CNBC aired an updated version of their Ultimate Fighting: Fistful of Dollars documentary. I was expecting something great but that is far from what I got. It was just a shameless, half-assed update of the first version.
It was barely worth watching and that is coming from a major UFC fan and a major business documentary geek. Don’t bother watching it unless you have not seem the first version.
This thing was like seeing that new Final Destination that is coming out; haven’t I seen this already?!

Dan Henderson vs Anderson Silva, Next Up At Middleweight!

We did it! Who says the fans have no voice in sports?! Dana White said that poor fan reaction has caused the UFC to rethink their 103rd PPV. The event had originally put Dan Henderson against Rich Franklin for a second time. A fight that no one was really looking for. And a fight that a victory by either fighter does not substantially elevate them.
Posts like this one on OWS began to pop up on the internets and they seemingly changed the thinking of the UFC brass. Now we have a much better rematch. Hendo-Silva II will at least potentially give Anderson Silva some competition at 185. Hendo is the only man to ever win a round against Silva in the UFC.

Early August is definately a time to enjoy the last weekends of summer. Or, here in the northeast, try and salvage it. It has been raining on nearly a daily basis for the past 2 months. May was great but June and July have been the worst in recent memory.
Hopefully it’s beautiful where ever you are but even if it’s not, you can make it work. Have a weekend and it’s your time!
