In era when it was beginning to be thought that an established pro may never win the Main Event again, Phil Ivey has done something remarkable. Yes, just making it this far is something amazing. That is because the main event of the 2009 World Series of Poker had 6,494 players and now Ivey is just one of the remaining nine.
Ivey is currently in 7th place going into November’s final table. Ivey has been no stranger to strong finishes in the Main Event. Between 2002 and 2009, Ivey finished in the top 30 four times. Ivey’s highest finish was 10th place finish at the 2003 WSOP Main Event. This will be Ivey’s first Main Event final table.
Ivey has been considered one of the very best in the world and this year he has already won 2 more WSOP bracelets. This gives him a total of 7 and their are only 7 people to ever have 7 or more bracelets.
According to Highstakesdb.com, Ivey regularly plays 500-1,000 NL on Full Tilt Poker. According to the site the biggest hand Ivey has won online is a whopping $687,000 and change. Damn that’s not a bad life to live.
I’ll be rooting hard to Ivey come November.

I love to watch Phil Ivey’s “deer in the headlights” style of play. I have tried to use that style, but alas have never made the final table at the WSOP Main Event… For more poker info, check out http://www.atlantapoker.blogspot.com
