ESPN was kind enough to wake me up to this on Sunday morning. These are stats that are not surprising but, at the same time, somehow are still completely shocking. I will admit that when the Red Sox signed Lugo I was a big fan of the deal. I thought it was a great move. I think it was the fact that Lugo always hit so well against Boston, and especially at Fenway, that may have skewed my judgment.
I would hope that the Sox brass did a little more due diligence than I but at this point I’m not sure. Looking back at his offensive stats it does just look like a complete blunder on the part of the Red Sox.
