Welcome to the weekend!

the hangover shots on vegas rooftopForget Transformers 2, I am hung up on The Hangover. From to of the creative geniuses of Four Christmases comes this Summers first big comedy. Yes, that’s right Four Christmases… I never saw it but I can only imagine how awful it is..

A little programming note; OWS will be shutting down early this coming week. We are going to be switching servers and slowly unveiling an updated design with an anticipated full launch on Monday July 6th.

Now on with the shenanigans…

Confederations Cup
So far no news of the Spanish soccer team being too worn out from hookers to play well against the US on Wednesday. Although that must be the reason for their loss. What else can explain it?

Sunday is the Confederations Cup Final pitting the USA against Brazil. Soccer analyst say that Spain is hands down the best team in the world. That being said, isn’t Brazil always truly the best team?

1-800-Sherrod For Weight-loss Help!

This was some of the oddest news all week came out of Kansas. Apparently, last summer, Kansas guard Sherron Collins showed up for camp at a hefty 220 pounds in August. Now comes word that this summer he is already around 229. Coach Bill Self said, “He’s heavy right now, 20, 30 pounds overweight. He’s got some time to get some of it down. It’s going to be a very tough patch for him to get where he needs to be.”

The 5-11 Collins’ playing weight is just over 200 pounds. So far the drastic weight gains and subsequent loss have not seemed to hurt Collins. He nearly doubled his scoring last season going from about 9 points per to over 18 PPG.

NBA Draft Party
NCAA Memphis BasketballThe NBA Draft was interesting no matter how “weak” people say it was. Here are my biggest under the radar sleepers: Jordan Hill, Gerald Henderson, Earl Clark, Jrue Holiday and Sam Young. One of these guys will step up and be the steal of the night. Also, James Harden might end up a better overall player than the two players selected before him.

How about someone who might be overvalued: Everyone is a lot higher on Tyreke Evans than I thought they would be. He ended up going to the Kings at #4. Evans is being called a great “slasher”. The problem is Evans needs to develop a better shot it he is going to be able to drive past anybody at the next level. Evans shot 45% from the floor last year and 27% from three. Sure I know the draft is about potential. However, I don’t see Evans being a pure point guard and thus the development of a shot is not a nice addition like it will be for Johnny Flynn, Ricky Rudio or Rajon Rondo; rather it is a necessity for Evans.

Hopefully all will go well this coming week in regards to the server switch. In the event that the site blows up and is lost forever–it’s been real!
