I don’t know if you have been to Chad Johnson’s Ochocinco’s official website of late… well, of course you have. Why wouldn’t you? Personally, I just had to see if he had change his chadjohnson85.com URL to something more appropriate for his new moniker.
Well, the website is still up. It conveniently redirects you to the official Chad Ochocinco zazzle page. Yes a zazzle page. Zazzle.com, similar to cafepress.com, is a site where you can create your own designs and sell your own custom t-shirts.
The first thing I wonder is whether Chad really needs this extra side business to make ends meet. I know times are tough but come on. Just an FYI, in 2006 Chad signed a $35 million deal that runs through 2011. Once I get past this absurdity, I took a closer look at the products on the site.
The shirt designs are the most generic things I have ever seen. Literally the only verbiage on any of the items are the number ‘85′ and the words ‘ocho cinco’. The only graphics are a Bengal making a scratching motion with a snazzy tear effect on the shirt.
Both the words and design grace a $14 coffee mug, a $45 hoodie and the poor baby pictured.
Actually the worst part about this operation is that he uses zazzle. So it isn’t as if he is mailing these out of his house or even his management team is taking care of it for him. Instead, he gets a small commission of the sales profit.
For such generic products it seems to be pointless. Good luck in this endeavor Ochocinco.
