Phil Ivey Wins Bracelet Number 7

phil_ivey

For the last 5 or so years Phil Ivey has been many peoples “pound for pound” best poker player. You would think that a game which has a very easy way to measure success—money—would be easy to rank players. Of course that isn’t the case.

This year Phil Ivey is wiping up at the World Series of Poker and just this past week he won his second bracelet of the year at the $2,500 Omaha high-low/seven-card stud high-low split Event 25. It is his seventh WSOP bracelet in total. He is tied for sixth all-time and is just one behind Erik Seidel.

Personally, Ivey has been my favorite player during this time and I was one of those people who I would be hard pressed to bet against in any game.

During his run to this 7th bracelet, Ivey was also playing in another event at the same time. Ivey was playing in the $5,000 pot-limit Omaha high-low Event 27. After accumulating chips during earlier breaks, Ivey was being blinded out while he played at the final table for Event 25.

Ivey ended up taking home a cool $220,538 but more importantly received that 7th gold bracelet.
