The new MLB Network will televise the entire first round live for the first time at its new studios in New Jersey. The last couple years ESPN has broadcast the event from Disney World. The first round will also be simulcast on MLB.com–although I’m not sure what form that coverage will take.
The MLB draft is a different bread, set far apart from its NBA and NFL counterparts.
For the NBA, we have seen these players play in college or previously heard about their phenominal high school careers. On the other hand a high school baseball player set yo be drafted ion the very first round is hardly front page news.
For the NFL, we have Mel Kiper and others on NFL Live year round telling us about the next USC stud and some linemen from the deep south. College baseball does not even aproach the scope of college football.
