Vince Young Demands Respect

Here is what Vince told WMAR-TV:

“I definitely want to get back out there playing ball and picking up where I left off, winning games and having a good time with my teammates and with the fans. At the same time, if them guys don’t want me to be in there, it’s time for me to make a career change for myself. Because the fact is I’m ready to play ball. If they’re not ready for me to play ball, then somebody is.”

Vince needs a lesson in supply and demand. For these words to be taken at full value there would have to be another team, in the entire 32 team NFL, that would want Vince Young as their starting quarterback.

I guess Young doesn’t exactly have the same worries about losing his job as the average working American. After all he did sign a five-year $58 million contract with the Titans that included $25.7 million in guaranteed money.

The best part of this story are the reactions from those around Vince.

Head coach Jeff Fisher said, “Vince is eventually going to be our starter,” going on to state that Kerry Collins would likely get the nod in 2009.

Young’s agent Major Adams just wants to forget that the whole thing ever happened saying, “He has not asked to be traded, and in fact, is going to an event at [Titan’s owner] Bud Adams’ ranch this weekend. Plus, he was in there working out [Monday]. If he didn’t have a desire to stay there, he wouldn’t be doing any of that.”

If he wants to continue to cash in those checks that are going to add up to $25 mil he has to show up at some of these regardless of his ridiculous demands to start. Major Adams is noticeably worried as he would no longer be needed if Vince decides to tour with Nelly full-time.
