The, lets say, charismatic faces that one Jon Scheyer tends to make on the basketball court have been a hit around the internet sports blogs. The faces have even inspired their own website.
Last night ‘Operation: Scheyer Face’ was in full swing in Maryland as the Terps took on the arch rival Blue Devils.
For my generation, Maryland basketball was put on the map during their 2002 NCAA Championship run. However, more respect has followed as I have seen that fan base thrive.
For example, I’ll never forget the time they chanted ‘Fuck you, JJ’ while JJ Reddick was at the free throw stripe.
Cameron might be the ultimate venue but still Maryland has a great atmosphere; one in which I hope I get to attend a game some time soon. The Duke-Maryland rivalry has been a heated one the last several years, especially during the Reddick days. Maryland fans did not take kindly to Reddick’s decision to attend Duke over Maryland.
Maryland’s coach, Gary Williams might be the most underrated head man in all of college basketball. He has been successful wherever he has coached, including over 400 impressive wins in a tough ACC while at Maryland.

[...] upon games to be seen. It hasn’t been a bad deal for me. I could easily pass a day watching basketball. For the most part, that’s what I’ve done the past couple [...]
I was at the game. Aside from the solid 7,000 Duke fans in attendance, the atmosphere was terrible — akin to a mediocre NBA game. Maryland fans are classless f*cktards who don’t know their heads from their asses. Are you serious in your assertion that the “F*ck you JJ” chant was something positive? It was a PR nightmare documented by several media outlets.
Let’s assess the real situation. Since 2002, Maryland is unarguably the WORST program to win a national championship. They had back to back Final 4 appearances, and now they can’t recruit for beans. What do all these kids have in common?
Carmelo Anthony
Michael Beasley
Rudy Gay
Kevin Durant
Josh Boone
Just a small sample of guys from MARYLAND who didn’t even consider going to College Park. Gary is fighting for his job and there are PLENTY of whispers that he’ll be gone sooner rather than later.
So, yeah. Lotsa luck rooting for this program.
