East coast bias; UNC-Uconn are in class of their own, sorry Sooners

Last night was a fun display of college basketball. Rivalry Week is a great attraction for the fan of the sport and last night was no exception.

duncanThe games last night were capped off with the biggest rivalry in all of college athletics; Duke-UNC basketball. The UNC seniors, Hansborough and Green, joined Tim Duncan and Rusty LaRue to become the only players to ever win all four of their games at Cameron Indoor during their careers.

Overall, UNC looked impressive especially in the second half. They are a team that still look like they have all the tools to go deep in the tourney, unlike the Notre Dame’s and Gonzaga’s of the world that have shown weakness.

The other team that looks to me as if they are headed to the Final Four and that no one will stop them are the Connecticut Huskies. They have been my pick (as much as it pained me) all along. And they were also in action last night before the big showdown in Durham.

73627401DD053_NCAA_RegionalI believe a Uconn-UNC Final Four game would be a historic battle. The problem that opponents have against both these teams is the fact that they are so well-rounded. Both Uconn and UNC are superb on defense as well as offense. In addition they can be affective on offense from the perimeter or in the paint.

Call it big time east coast bias; I don’t even put Oklahoma on the same court, so to say, as Uconn and UNC.

It’s hard to believe but March is just around the corner!
