Sports and the Economy looks at the effect the current economic conditions are having on sports leagues, teams and fans across the country.
I have seen a number of teams across the major North American sports leagues offer gimmick nights to entice fans to spend their discretionary income to come out and see a game.
Tonight if you and a buddy are in the Houston area you can see the Rockets take on the Utah Jazz for $26 a piece.
What exactly does that $52 bucks get you:
I don’t know the going price of a barrel of beer in Houston but you have to assume at least $7 a cup. Hot dogs; those are likely about $3. So that’s a $20 value on top of the $26 you are paying for a ticket. That means the ticket is in essence six bucks. Not to mention you get a pair of Rockets koozies to boot.
No word on if it’s a can or bottle koozie. Beggars can’t be choosers though right?

Obama will fix all, right?
It is actually a “slap koozie”. Lot’s on people were wearing them on their arms.
the sixers have the same thing called “Guys Night Out” It comes with 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 beers, and 4 76er Dancer Calendars. They start at $125….$32 a person.
