Kickin It With Kevin

NFL Kickin’ it With Kevin

Just a quick note before I start. Be on the look out for my mid-season awards and my very first mid-season mock draft.

You Say Tomato, I Say I’m Awesome

1. This weeks Idiot of the Week award goes to Jerry Jones. Dear Jerry, stop being the President, GM, CEO, Owner, First Moron, and Scissor Stabbing Cover Uping, Whore Renting, whatever else title you want to call yourself for the Cowboys. You are quickly becoming the new Al Davis of the NFL. First, you’re fleeced by the Lions in a trade for Roy Williams. Then you give the team a tounge lashing after losing to the Rams, which in turn only underminds and make Wade Phillips look like Officer Doofy all the more. Honestly, your ego makes TO’s look like Simon Birches’s.

2. Speaking of Wade Phillips, doesn’t he remind you a bit of Hugh Hefner? You know, gallivanting around with all these “stars” but no idea/ability of what to do with them?

3. Plaxico Burress will not be with the New York Giants come draft day. Book it.

4. Judging from this weekends game I may have been incorrect when I said the Rams should have traded Steven Jackson. Time will tell.

5. Dear Mike Shannahan, you have done a fantastic job of building your offense through the draft. However, maybe you should have stepped aside and had someone else more versed with defensive players help you draft? I mean come on, the majority of the castoffs on this team are back-ups and special teamers at best. I realize you’re the offensive mastermind and Belichecks the defensive version of you and what not, but know your weaknesses.

6. I don’t see the Cowboy’s making the playoffs. They’re way to dysfunctional.

7. Jon Gruden, stick with Jeff Garcia. All that guy does is win for you.

8. The Monday Night game of Broncos and Patriots is the perfect example of way an 18 game season is the worst idea. The amount of players that go down every game is not worth the extra amount of revenue generated from extra games. Winners and stars sell seats. If they are on the side-line, how does that benefit anyone?

9. How bad is it that Tony Kornheiser spoke about Rodney Harrison being one of the dirtier players in the league when he was hurt? I mean Harrison is reknown for being voted year after year “Dirtiest Player” but the guy is hurt with a career ending injury, show SOME tact Tony.

10. Larry Johnson, way to spit in a woman’s face and threaten her boyfriend. I hope you get a 2-4 game suspension for being a huge jackass.

11. Has anybody else noticed that Broncos Left Tackle Ryan Clady is having a Joe Thomas-esque year?

The Fine Fifteen

1.Tennessee Titans- Didn’t the Lendale White-Chris Johnson combination remind you of the Reggie Bush-Lendale White combination at USC? I’m willing to bet every draft analyst and scout that ripped (and there were quite a few) the Titans for drafting Chris Johnson are all the object of scorn and derision from their respective ball clubs.

2. New York Giants- Is the Plaxico Burress situation overblown or is he really the cancer that many describe him to be? After all, there was a reason why the Pittsburgh Steelers bounced him despite his talent. Plaxico is a talented play-maker, but on a team this deep, is he worth the locker room me-first hassle?

3. Pittsburgh Steelers- Will someone level Hines Ward, break his jaw, and end his season a la what he did to Keith Rivers? I’m all for clean hits and Ward was completely within the rules and was just playing hard, however, it seems like it is only a matter of time before he gets jacked up.

4. Buffalo Bills- When will Marshawyn Lynch’s nickname of “Beast Mode” actually live up to its billing? How dumb is Tony Gonzalez for nixing his own trade to Buffalo? This team has playoff and possible Super Bowl contention written all over them. Great offensive line, a quarterback that knows how to manage the game, and a tough defense, particularly in the front seven.

5. Washington Redskins- Is Clinton Portis on his way to winning the MVP of the league this season? If so, how big will his contract be at the end of the year?

6. Jacksonville Jaguars- With Matt Jones out, will Mercedes Lewis become Garrard’s new go-to guy?

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Why was Earnest Graham moved to fullback?

8. Carolina Panthers- Will their defense play like they did against the Saints every game?

9. Green Bay Packers- Is Greg Jennings the most under valued wide receiver in the NFL?

10. Philadelphia Eagles- With Westbrook and Curtis back with DeSean Jackson in tow, how many deep balls will be thrown against a suspect Atlanta secondary?

11. Chicago Bears- How on earth did the Bears-Vikings game become a shoot out? How did so many teams pass on Matt Forte?

12. Arizona Cardinals- How much are the Cardinals regretting not trading Anquan Boldin with the emergence of Steve Breaston? Are the Rams about to catch up to the Cardinals in the NFC West?

13. Dallas Cowboys- How is Brad Johnson going to get the ball to TO and Roy E. Williams if the pass is longer than 15 yards?

14. Atlanta Falcons- Will the Falcons weather their test against the Eagles? If so, is Matt Ryan now the front runner for Rookie of the Year?

15. Denver Broncos- With both Bailey brothers out (Champ 4-6 weeks and Boss for the season) will an already porous defense be the demise of this once promising playoff team?

“My Beer Drunk Soul Is Sadder Than All The Dead Christmas Trees Of The World”

1. Rehab will actually work for Pacman Jones and make him a better more productive member of society.

2. Brett Favre is the newest consultant for the Vikings, Bears, and Lions.

3. Tom Cable is changing his name to the Cable guy after reportedly screaming GET ERRR DONE after beating the Jets.

From: Palin is hot

“How dare you speak ill of TO. He gives his all every game. He’s never killed anyone like Mr. Ray Lewis. Instead, he saves people that are hit and run victims during the off season.”

Response: If TO is giving it his all every game then why hasn’t he broken a hundred yards receiving in a game this year?

Non Football Quote of the Week

UFC President Dana White on Anderson “Spider” Silva’s Retirement Talk

“You never know what a fighter’s thinking or what he wants to do,” White commented. “One of the funny things is everybody’s always talking about how much we pay our fighters, ‘oh they don’t pay your fighters enough.’ Anderson Silva’s the best fighter in the world, he’s a young guy, and he’s talking about retiring.”

“You know why? Because he’s fucking rich, that’s why. If I was Anderson Silva, I’d retire too.”

Brett Favre should have listened to Dana White last year.

  1. Joe the Bronco says:

Bronco fan here. And it’s obvious to me that you are too. You write about them every week. When are we all going to come to the conclusion that Cutler is overrated? The media loves him because he went to VANDERBILT (so did most of them, too). The fact is, the guy can’t come up big when needed, and all we ever hear is how good “he’s going to be.”

Denver is doomed. Shannahan has lost it, and we’ll blow up the team sooner rather than later.

    Thanks drake :)

  3. Ken Winsenhunt says:

Joe the Bronco sounds like a charger. The funny thing is, if you replace Denver with VaTech and Shannahan with Beamer, it makes even more sense. I dont know why the media continues the rank them after losing to ECU and then beating Duke.
